Hoping to start up my Ca reactor and bio pellets in the next couple weeks and a 48x24x12 frag tank.

Reef Tank idea: small reef fish.

Hey guys sorry for no pictures i know im blowing it just been a little busy. I have a question for you and hope someone on this board can answer it. So i picked up my new tank. Its 48x24x12 acrylic with a euro brace on it. So i want to daisy chain all the tanks into one so i dont have to buy more pumps. I want my system to pump up to my original tank (one pictured above) then drain into the new tank and then drain into the sump. First off does anyone see any problem with this design b/c as of now thats what im wanting to do. So my question. Can i drill 2 holes into the euro brace for its "return line" using both of its original holes return and overflow as the over flows? Will this effect the integrity of the tank? Planing on dropping the new tank lower than the frag tank so gravity will do the work.

My idea:
Main pump is sicce 5.0 ~1321gph with 3' of HP on pump. Pumps sump up to the 48x18x12 (frag tank). Then drains down its 1 1/2" overflow into 2x1" overflow returns for the new 48x24x12 (main display). Then using its original 3/4" return and 1"overflow as the overflows into the sump. Turning the 3/4" into a syphon and 1" will be a durso. Any possible problems? Thinking it may be a smart idea to put a overflow pipe from the frag tank into the sump just to be safe with a overflow. What do you guys think? Is this completely crazy or what ha.

Having trouble picturing what you're trying to tell us. The 48x18x12 would have to be higher than the 48x24x12 tank for water to drain from the first to the second. Maybe draw it out quick and post the picture of how you would plumb each tank in. Might give everyone a better idea.

Ok. This is what I kinda had thought. Looks like it would work. If you would do an overflow on both tanks then I would think you would want to T the return to both tanks. You could put valves on each return line after the T to isolate each tank.

I think thats what im going to have to do. Didnt want to b/c it would have to travel around 6+ feet to get to the other tank but i think that will be my best option. Thanks for the help though. Hopefully by next week ill be able to have it all up and running.

thats a really nice tank! i love the dimensions I am looking to build an acrylic tank around those dimensions. really nice rockscape as well
