Hi there,

My name is Todd and I moved to Chicago a little more than a year ago from Grand Rapids, MI. I hadn't discovered Chicago Reefs until recently. I'd like to share my tank with you.

Please excuse the dirty tank and the blueish hue of the iPhone pictures. I really need to look into getting a DSLR with some decent lenses.

This is very beautiful tank, i like your layout, no clutter, nice selection of fish. Can you give us more info regarding equipment and filtration system? BTW Grand Rapids is a great town, i spent a week there couple of years ago ( Amway pretty much owns everything, lol.)

Thanks! Yeah Grand Rapids really is a great city. Amway hahaha. Yeah, there are two families within that company (DeVos and Van Andel) who have paid for SO many things in Grand Rapids. If we didn't have those two families there, Grand Rapids would be half the size or smaller.

As for details on the equipment:

Skimmer: Reef Octopus XS 160
Lighting: ATI Powermodule 6x54
Flow: 1 MP40W, 2 MP10W's, Return = Eheim 1262
ATO: Tunze 3155
Chiller: Arctica 1/4 HP
RO/DI: BRS 5 stage plus (with chloramine remover. Heard mixed things about Chicago water. Felt it better to be safe than sorry)

I have run GFO, GAC, filter socks, bio pellets, UV sterilizer in the past, but have taken them all offline for now and am just increasing my husbandry efforts to keep PO4 and NO3 in check. It's been working well and I plan to keep it that way for the foreseeable future.

Thanks. He was one of the only survivors in a shipment that got delayed. He's made a great comeback.
 
The only thing i see wrong with this tank and pics r wheres the sand lol . Looks good nice coral colonies
 
Welcome to CR! Beautiful tank! Would you mind sharing your bulb combo? I just picked up an ATI 8x54 powermodule for my 120 and I'm not sure what I wanna do for bulbs. The color you have looks about what I want.
