My ph probe bad?

I bought this used probe and when I got it it was dry. I've heard when they are dry that they become no good.

Also here at the top it's some what frayed and corroding. More reason it should be tossed?

Yes, they will go bad if they dry out. pH probes should be replaced every year even when they haven't dried out per a guy I talked to at American Marine. $40 for a new one.
