My prayers for victims

My prayers go out to all victims of this horrible, senseless shooting in Connecticut. What a tragedy. Add yours if you feel the same.

Guys. I tell my wife this everyday. Pay attn to ur surroundings. Make sure u take care of ur family.. And learn how to shoot. Even if its only for home protection. An off duty cop got shot 2 blocks from me 2 nights ago.. And I live in good neighborhood. He was coming home from work and had his 2 year old son in car with him... Luckily he shot the bastard as well and would have been worse, but guy have vest on. Copper is ok with broken wrist only. Shithead is a Latin king from summit and came into our neighborhood with the intention of committing a robbery...

This is something that is occurring way too often... I am already overly protective of my family... But incidents like one in Conn. makes me second guess sending my kids to school. Heck... Even playing in front of house... It's sickening... And I wish the best for families... Sorry that's my rant...

A terrible feeling for all of those families! I have a 6 year old neice and nephew as well as a 2 year old nephew. I could not even comprehend how I could deal with it had that happend to them. Please hug your kids, grandkids, neices and nephews and understand how every moment on this earth matters. Never take a moment with your family forgranted!

This really is a horrific and tragic event that took place today. What the hell has this world come to? My prayers are with the victims and their families as well. Makes me real nervous knowing my little girl will be in kindergarten next year.

My prayers go to all their families! Jorge I agree always pay attention to your surroundings!

Sorry guys but I have to say it! The government is responsible for a lot of it. Letting career criminals out of jail, poor gun laws that allow ONLY criminals to own them, etc and etc.

Not sure if this could have been prevented but I'm afraid it will lead to security and/or police at the entrance to every grammar school too.

This is a good time to console with your spiritual leader with whatever religion you practice to relieve the stress you have regarding this whether you realize you have it or not. All you parents out there have it. It appears that perhaps armageddon is on the way!

Some advice; talk to your kids about it and come up with a plan; it sucks but a prepared person/child is the best defense.

During holiday season, be VERY aware of people approaching you in the parking lots, especially if your hands are full. If someone is following you, go back into the store.

Look around you when getting out of car-if someone is suspicious get back in your car and drive away even if you are in your own driveway.

When you pull into the garage, stand at the door as it closes--DO NOT turn around and leave the garage until the door is closed.

And continue to pray for all the children of the world; they have it the hardest....

While I agree with everything u said. This was not the governments fault. Kid was never arrested and not his guns, bought by mom. But this isn't a debate.

I feel like the gun laws/government debate, if any, is meant for another thread. This is meant for prayer to the victims and to serve as a reminder to always be aware. Shootings, as Jorge stated, are becoming far to common - Protect yourself, become educated, and inform others if you feel uncomfortable in any situation. With the holiday season coming up, there will be mass crowds everywhere and that's what I fear for. The CT shooting just occurred, on 12/11 there was a shooting at a mall in OR and on 10/21 there was one in WI. Due to all of this, even I received a phone call Friday afternoon to be on standby for Chicago (Malls) as they are starting to required Armed K9 as a preventative. Law Enforcement is doing as much as possible to prevent these situations, but some appear to be random/unprovoked.

Bottom line, enjoy the holiday season, but don't get so wrapped up that you lose track of your surroundings.

The only real solution is to require all teachers to be armed and to know how to use their weapons. If the teachers at this school were armed this jackhole would've been taken out quickly and the casualties would've been minimal.

That's not exactly what I would like to see happen. All teachers be armed? Too many things could go wrong with that scenario.

I dont know if a gunfight around little kids is the solution. Were talkin about a crazy mofo here. The answer is better mental health care.

This woman had high powered weapons in a house with her mentally disabled child. Were they not locked up? The kid needed help, and the mother in my opinion made a poor decision in having these weapons accessible.

First my prayers do go out to all involved in this situation.

Unless you have a "safe", guns are really not locked up. The so called safes they sell at Cabelas and the like that weigh 700 lbs will only last a couple minutes to a determined person with an ax. Most safes have an override key and once he killed his mom, he could go find that key if needed. Also there are a lot of conflicting stories on what his mental state was the years leading up to the event. Most recollections that I have heard only said he was quiet and reserved. Anyway, just wanted to chime in about the gun "safes".

My prayers go out to the families as well. I sickens me to think about what goes through a persons mind to justify committing these kinds of atrocities.
