8 gallon nano cube with ecoxotic LED strips.

Fish= none
SPS= Jason Fox Toxic Aculeus, ATL Xmas Miribalis, Leng Sy Cap, Pink Polyped Green Cap, Mystic Sunrise Monti, Forest Fire Digi, Sunset Monti, Tricolor Valida, Blue Tenuis, Millipora, ORA tort, orange setosa, blue tort, red dragon acro, ORA Hawkins echinata, and a rainbow monti
LPS= Miami Hurricane Chalice, watermelon chalice, Jason Fox Leptastrea, orange leptoseris, frogspawn, hammer, couple acans, meteor shower cyphastrea, walking dendro, Sprung stunner chalice, couple candy canes, and a acan echinata.
Softies= Jason Fox Chucky's Bride palys, lunar eclipse palys, devils armor, rasta zoas, pink palys, red hornet zoas, orange zoas, eagle eye zoas, and some other asst zoas. Xenia, blue sympodium, ORA green polyp toadstool, blue, orange, green, and yellow ricordeas, a weird green/purple yuma, red discomas, and a green sinularia.
Misc= purple photosynthetic sponge, pink/green cucumber, few feather dusters, couple sexy shrimp, a porcelain crab, a peppermint shrimp, a crap ton of mysids and bristle worms, and some hermits and snails.

Tank is pretty much self-sufficient, alkalinity is auto-dosed with the top-off water. Calcium is added by hand. 50% water change every week. Fed with Azox and arctic-pods, no spot feeding.

Equipment= maxijet 900 pump, retrofitted loc-line return, hydor powerhead, exocotic LEDs (3x panoramas, 2x stunner strips, and a controller), a heater, and chemi-pure.

I don't test the water regularly, but when I do, its usually around a dkh of 7, and a calcium level of 400 ppm. pH does stay high, around 8.4.

RIP awesome frogfish :(

This pic is crappy, but was taken on April 19th, just to give you an idea of growth rate

Those frog fish are awesome! I'd love to do one in my 25 but have no experience whatsoever. Did they ever go after inverts?

Dang thats fucking awesome. something not soo easy to achieve with an 8 gallon.

i started with the same idea then got greedy and had to move to 16 now .. getting more greedy moving to 30 :)

but your tank is an awesome example of how it can be done.

:congrats:

Andrew, ive got 3 panoramas, 2 are 50/50 and one is blue, then 2 stunners, one is blue, one is 50/50.

Thanks Krishna, I think nano tanks are kind of like bonsai trees. Trying to create that illusion of size and depth is half the fun.

very true, but whats gonna happen when all of those montis and sps start overlapping or grow on to each other ??

i started nuvo 8 with the same idea to make it look like this.

even with my 16 gallon i dont find enoiugh room to place 2 or 3 montis and zoas are already growing into each other.

how long has the tank been up ?

Thanks for the info Ryan. It looks like you've had great success with the ecoxotic leds. I've had my tank setup for a couple months now and love them so far.

Krishna, I've actually just let the corals literally grow into one another so far. Its been running with SPS for about 7 months now, all started from micro-frags. They really just hit each other, the winner kills off about 2 mm of growth, and they grow away from one another. I think it forms very natural and interesting shapes. My chalice coral has been overgrowing my Xmas miribalis, but the miribalis seems to be growing away faster than the chalice is encroaching. Time will tell i guess. Did you let your corals overgrow one another?

Andrew, how many strips do you have running on your tank? Have you had any success with SPS?

Steve, are you talking about the orange setosa? Its one of my favorites. The purple thing that kinda looks like a monti in the lower right corner is actually a plating photosynthetic sponge that looks almost exactly like a purple monti, but it is squishy and soft!

Krishna- those 16 gallon Nuvo tanks are awesome btw. I got the tank for this setup used, and when i get a newer/nicer/slightly larger tank, I am thinking about a nuvo. The white ones are dope, would be sweet with a white AI LED setup hanging from the ceiling.

you have some beautiful corals. when it comes time to start trimming let me know. I might take some frags off your hands
