What kind of unit? If it's R-12 it's basically impossible to find and expensive to buy, unless someone has it sitting around. If anything you might be able to convert it to R-134 if it is a 12 system. You'd need a gauge adapter kit to convert it, after that it would be more cost effective. I would check on what it is though, could be R-22 if it's for a chiller. Something I just thought of, does it even have a charge port? If not you have to solder one in and it takes special solder for that too.

Pretty sure it's the r 12 it's expensive and hard to find that I know
Going to get new unit next year just trying to get by for rest of this heat wave

Good luck on your search, I had some years and years ago in the "pop" cans. I slowly depleted my stash and converted to R134. I looked in my garage to be sure and have nothing remaining. I did find my gauges though, even the can tapper LOL

I'm not sure it could be r 22 I just know it has an r and a 2 in the number

That makes it easier!!!! Although I do not have any 22.... If you know someone in HVAC they could help you out.

Expect to pay about $80lb for R-22. A 2.5 ton unit may need up to 4lbs. That price may or may not include labor to install. Sorry I don't have someone to recommend.

Thanks I know it's expensive . Just hoping to find a hvac reefer
To get me by for now

Spoke to Hubby, a 40 year pipefitter. he says forget it, you're never going to find 22. It was all gone years ago.

I replaced my furnace and air in July, with the rebates I'm getting from nicor and comed, 4100... I think R-12 was in older cars.
