Hey guys so I'm going to be getting a bigger tank in a few days and I'm a little unsure in what I want to do. Do you all think it would be better to get a new tank or find one used for much less and have to build the stand myself. If new I was planning on going to aqua pro see what they have I have heard they alway got sweet deals. Thanks for stopping by

I bought used when I had the 90 and now again with our 28 biocube. As long as you disinfect and clean it well I don't see any problems. With this hobby so expensive...

I've had new and used. First thing you need to figure out is what size tank you want to get. Really think about what dimensions you want. Next is know your budget. If you've got the cash to buy a new tank and all the equipment to get it going then that's what I'd do. But if you're on a tighter budget then there's nothing wrong with used. I've gotten all of my new tanks from aquapros and I'll be going back very soon for my next upgrade

Nothing wrong with going used...if you get a standard 75 g, I have a black wooden stand I would sell you...if interested that is.

One guy at new fish once said to me, "buying used equipment is just buying other peoples problems", he aint lying. I'd say new! Make sure it is drilled in a way that makes it as quiet as possible, or customizable. Buy a glass, not acrylic. Rimless if you can afford it, because black trim can crack. Glassholes overflow or something like that. R33fswagg3r on this forum had an aquarium he sold a while back that was a good example. Vucious on here bought an aquarium that is a good example of what I wish I bought but couldnt afford at the time. Also think about what lighting you will need that will fit over the tank. When I get a better job, my next tank will be new or a custom build by someone local. The current totm also looks very sleek and modern imo.

I'd also recommend AP for your tank as well as going the new route. I got all my tanks from them, they're awesome.

I'd also recommend building the stand yourself just for customizability. I've never been a fan of stock stands.

I bought a used tank off CL that seemed to be in great condition. three months in the acrylic separated on 2 corners dumping half the tank on the ground. I then had to buy a tank in a pinch so I splurged on a very nice reef ready tank from the lfs. Buying used = Risky and no warranty.
Buying new = Peace of mind and most times warrantee
