Need some help making a mesh cover for my biocube

Could you cut egg crate and use it as a frame? I don't remember if the Bio Cube has an inside "lip" that the frame could rest on or not.

go to home depot and ask for door/window screening supplies. get the aluminum strip that you can saw into pieces and get plastic corners to connect the aluminum pieces into a frame. then get fiberglass screen to put over it and the little ribber string that you press into a groove in the aluminum to lock the screen in place. took me under a half hour and under $12 to make and mine fits very tight and looks very professional :)

ill probably post pics later tonight

Real good idea splitting it up like that! I wonder if you can form curves? I have a 72G bow front that I want to screen up. Just like yours!

yea, split it clever. ive needed to do this for so long... still need to. you should be able to bend it. may have to snip it so it doesnt crease tho

I guess the only way to see if it works it to try it out. Thanks for the advice never thought about cutting it to form a curve, thats a great idea

I wanted to put a hing and handle on the front piece but never got around to it. Easy enough to just lift it up though. Been like that for more than a year haha.

I have been running mesh tops for 2 years and have had no corrosion issues. If you are using a halide and it is close to the mesh, it will get brittle over time. I just had to replace the mesh on my tank with a 250 DE metal halide.

There has been some threads on other forums where I guy made curved tops for a 72 Bowfront. They worked out nice but it took a little patience to get it just right.
