nem splitting

So my nem has been in the same spot for 7 months and the last 2 days it started move moving. It has moved about 4 inches from its normal location, and is now starting to split. The nem has grown to about 5 inches round. Dose any one have any idea what may have caused this? Is it happy, or stressed?

Splits are usually stress.....they split leaving the stress behind and in my book the new one is dominant

I have read that be but why all of a sudden? Nothing has changed in my tank at all

I am not an expert by no means, but had nems for 5 years. They supposedly split for survival purposes. Has anything changed in the tank. Moved a powerhead or changed the light intensity?

Nothing has changed at all.

I believe stress can be the reason for it splitting but not in every case. I've had a nem split for what I think was "just because".

I had a Nem Split in 3 because it was bigger than a water melon and was afraid of its own giant shadow .

Nems are weird. They can split for a bunch of random reasons. Or at least that's how mine always have been.

Well the split went well thy are only a few inches from each other and are not stinging any of my other corals so that's good news for me see how they look when I get off work to dat
