New Mini Reefer

Greetings ChicagoReef Forum members. I am located up in Buffalo Grove and started my first 38-gallon mini reef tank before Thanksgiving of this past year. I came upon this form while searching on the Internet for some local marine groups. With my work and home schedules, I'm likely not going to be a mega-poster on the forum, but am appreciative of the resource nonetheless.

Thank you for the welcomes.

Inside the cave is a trachyphyllia - he's just a bit puffed up there. Since that photo was taken he was moved forward just a bit. The lighting on the tank is one 24" Skkye LED white light and 2 x 24" Skkye LED actinic lights. I'm afraid that I don't know much about the filter except it's the dual 'three sponge' intake filters that came with the Innovative Marine Mini-38 tank. I did add some media bags with some ferric oxide in one and some activated carbon in another. Flow is provided by the two returns (one of which is a rotator) and a Hydor Koralia 240 gph circulation pump.

The current coral setup includes five branching acros, the trach in the center, five zoanthids, a tyree neon green toadstool, a branched hammer coral, a green star polyp colony on the back left wall, two acan frags, a green encrusting hydnophora, a brown/green three head blasto colony, a stylophora, a branching monti and two plating montis (purple and orange).

The current fish are just the two ocellaris clowns for right now.

Jim
