New tank water

I will be setting up my system here shortly and will have about 300 gal. Total volume ... I know the best thing to do is to either buy water or use r/o to start ... If you use water straight from the tap i know there will be po4 and other stuff in there .... Is there anything i can treat this water with to eliminate as much of the bad chemicals as possibles ? I dont really want to start off with po4 going into it ??

Thanks much

it is alot of water and a extra cost in starting up a new tank, but imho dont skip on ro unit . like you stated you dont want all the nasty crap thats in tap water in your tank. alot of our sponsers here can bring them in for you and send you in the right direction. good luck and post them pics as you go .

thanks man !

My advice: buy a nice ladder. I have a similar dimension tank about the same height. Almost all of my in-tank work requires a ladder. I do like the deep tank look at eye level and totally think it is a trade-off i'd do again.

Let's get some water in this thing!

absolutely right about the ladder ! I just moved into this house and im getting everything put away now and ready for my basement sump ... I need to build a few stands to hold my tanks for the filter system and my water storage/water changes .... I want to automate this as much as possible ... I hated 5 gallon buckets to do water changes ! It will be a little while before it sees water , but i will let ya know when it starts ! Matt at sho tank built the stand/canopy for me so i cant take credit for that !

+1 on getting your own ro/di unit. Will make water changes and taking care of evap that much easier when you have a never ending supply of ro water at your disposal.
