Newbie question

You don't want crushed coral, and sugar sized sand. Look for aragonite based sand also because for it's buffering capacity.
 
Seaflor special grade. Its on par with tropic Eden reef flakes, without the cost. And it ships dry (damp but not water packed) so you get the most sand for your dollar. You can get 40# bags for $35 from foster & smith. I just put about 130-140# of it into my new 180. If you want to swing by to see what it looks like, you are welcome to.

+1 on sea floor special grade sand. I have the sand in my tank and love it.. So does my gobies, starfish, and snails
