No skimmer

Just woke up to find my skimmer not running. I wondering how long can I last without a skimmer before problems start? I'm soaking my reef octopus diablo pump in vinegar now and will test it in a couple hours but if that doesn't work I'll need to order a new skimmer which will take a couple days.
 
I would just order a new pump. Go online and find the exact pump. Will be cheaper than buying a whole new skimmer. I recently had mine go down and it wasn't working got several days. Should be fine til u get a new pump

U should b fine, if u can try to use a filter sock or sponge to help remove waste. Reduce feeding in the meantime till u get the skimmer back on.
 
After soaking the pump for a few hours I decided to clean the pump out even more with a toothbrush. When taking the pump apart I found a small hermit stuck in the impeller, after remove the hermit and a good clean the pump is working again. Thanks for all the advice.
 
Ive gone a month before without skimmer i just did my normal w/c and fed everyother day instead of every. U be fine its not like skimmer shuts off and tank dies takes long time. My buddy hasnt ran a skimmer in over a yr and although he has algae his lps and zoas even monties r still alive sps not so much but that other crap is fine

aahh...the 'ol hermit in the pump issue....gotta love those little bass tards...lol
glad it worked out and the impeller wasn't cracked...fwiw, it may be a good idea to keep a replacement pump/impeller on hand in case of times like this...
