ocellaris clownfish fighting

I have two clowns, I got them when they where small. Now they have grown and the larger one which I'm guessing is the female is attacking the smaller one. Now the small one has some damaged fins and also it's colors are dimmer. Now why are they fighting? I thought they are supposed to pare up.

Not all arranged marriages are happy marriages? Err not sure though, hope they sort out their differences! Maybe someone with something helpful to say will chime in :)

I had 2 black and white clowns for 1.5 years, where the female was tearing fins and ripping bottom lip of the male ... I ended up getting rid of the female :(

they dont always pair up, the male should be doing a twitchy shimmy dance when the female nips at him to show submission, if he is not doing that you will probably need to separate them, Females will tear apart a male that doesn't acknowledge their dominance.

that's not good I hope it starts submit because I paid almost 700 for the pair

try turning a rock around or messing up their routine. I have two pair and both have gone through a rough spot, but I was able to cool everything off by causing a territory realignment. The females just go nuts eventually, but in both cases mine got back to business as usual once she got through it or I made them get new corners. Mine still kick the male out of their normal hosting spot jsut about every other night, but the attacks stop (except on me with the older pair, that chick takes knuckle chuckes every time i put my hand in there).

Like stated above, the female is trying to state her dominance . Let the little guy rough it out for a bit but if it gets real out of hand your going to have to pull the little guy out. Try the rock thing like herbie said.
