over skimming question?????

I have a friend that has a 60 gal cube with 29 gal sump. he did a 10 gallon water change and now his shimmer is just over skimming( clear water coming out of collection cup) any ideas what could cause this????
 
Is the water level too high in the skimming zone of his sump? If he is flooding the skimmer it will run excessively wet.
 
check air hose and how was the water put in when i pour directly from bucket to sump it will goo nuts shortly after if i use hose and pump it doesnt weird if air hose is clogged sometimes it will overflow
 
You know what, this happens to me every once in a while. I've always assumed that I kicked up something that was resting on the bottom of my sump when I dumped in the new water. When it happens I empty the cup once or twice and then it stops. I'm curious to know the reason why as well....
I have the ASM G1-X
 
I've had this happen with my ASM G2 but I also have a gate valve mod (Highly recommended) when I have this problem it's nothing that I cant usually fix quickly with some tuning of the gate valve.

Do you have the instructions on how to do the gate valve on the ASM G2 cause I'm looking to do it?
 
This happens to me every time I add a new filter socks. I just leave it off for a few hours and then it goes back to normal. Could never figure out why.

Mine came with it from the guy I got it from off craiglist....there are plans and DIY kits all over the internet....If I come across any I'll send the link your way.

Brand new filter socks will make your skimmer go nuts. I wash my new ones now before I use them.
