You can buy just the Apogee light sensor and use a volt meter, Sq-120 sensor. It was the route I went when I switched to LED. Just hook the senor to the DMM, measure mV and multiple by 5. $140 or so shipped for the senor from apogee.

I used the CMAS one once... then I just bought my own. If you're serious about coral then it is an important tool to have.
