Planning a New Tank - Advice Request :)

Hello Everyone. I have been browsing / reading and thinking about getting into a saltwater tank for a few months now. I checked out the Aquatic Experience this weekend and I want to give this a shot!

I am planning on purchasing a Red Reef Nano Setup (28 gal total system)

I have been browsing forums and doing some reading, but haven't found anything comprehensive.

I was thinking about the setup below: (Any feedback / suggestions would be great... as I have zero experience)

Tank:
Red Sea Reefer Nano

DISPLAY: 21G - 18"x18"x18" (Total System: 28G)
SUMP: 7G
ATO RES: 1.2G

Other:
Return Pump: Sicce Syncra Silent Pump 2.0
Skimmer: Reef Octopus classic 110 space saver
Lighting: Kessil A160W (**Updated to Kessil A360W)
Controller: Apex Jr
Circulation pump: Vortech mp10WQD Quietdrive x2 (**Updated to 1 instead of 2)
Heater: Cobalt Aquatics neo-therm 75 watt (**Updated to 100 Watt**)
Substrate: Carib Sea Arag-Alive Reef Sand

Thanks!

Welcome.

I like several of your choices, the Apex jr, mp10, cobalt heater and kessil, used them all with good results. As far as Kessil, I would consider the a360. No personal experience with other choices.

Good luck, and be patient.

Welcome to CR Austn.

You're choices are a good start. Number one thing to this hobby is paitenance. Second is don't give up. It's ahobby of ups and downs so hang in there and enjoy the ride.

+1 go Kessil 360w the 160 won't give you enough spread and par to fill that space.
2 MP 10's is probably overkill. I would do 1.

Go BIGGER ! lol Two MP10s might be a little much but you could always dial them down. You could go with one MP10 and then a smaller (cheaper) pump but if $ is no object then two MP10s. I would go with a bigger heater; maybe the Cobalt 100w. Welcome to CR !

Plus 1 on the MP10 overkill. I have one in my Fusion 20, have it dailed way back. 2 would knock the rock out of the tank...good luck, and get a part time job to fund the hobby...

Thanks for the advice! I will do the a360... and I will keep reminding myself to be patient. ha

My place has a limit on the tank size :( but I think the 28 gal setup is going to be a good starting point!

I will dial back to one MP10 and go with the 100w.

Thanks!
