Possible upgrade???

Hello everyone, just asking everyone opinion on a possible upgrade..on my other forum, another member wants to downgrade to a smaller cube from his 75 gal bow front tank, because he's in the military and when he moves again, he'd rather move the smaller tank. We talked last night, and I told him I'd think about it, but anyone who's seem my tank know how I finally have it set up how I want it, and really don't want to change or disrupt the tanks' success, because I finally have it set up the way I envisioned it...but I'd love to upgrade at the same time. This is a tough decision.

Will its a great opportunity IMO!!! This is hard to make a choice as things are finally doing good for you.. The question is have you seen his tank and equipment?

Was on the same boat with a 110gal that was given to me and just PIF.. All I needed was a few things..

Nope, I haven't seen the tank or any of his equipment bambam, and I'm not really sure if he had anything other than the tank and stand. I'm gonna have to go thru his build thread any check it out, because I've dedicated a lot of upgrades to my tank, including leds.

Stay with your tank, you obviously want to keep it since you are trying to get us to convince you otherwise. There will always be another tank later when the time is right.

Thanks George, that's the way I was leaning...i just told him thanks, but no thanks. I told him the timing was off because I just had back surgery and because I'm not at work, my finances aren't able to do an upgrade right now. Maybe in the future.

Good call smitty. I keep seeing these great deals for tanks that would really be an improvement on my 28nc but none of them are EXACTLY what I will want next, and we are planning to move within the year. I'm going to stay strong like you and resist the urge whenever these great deals come along. On a side note: as a current bent glass owner I have to say I will never buy one again. Bow front can be really cool, but they have a tiring optical effect and make taking pictures a real pain. MHO>

Thanks Nate...yeah, I've heard the same issue with other bow front owners that they get tired of looking at it after awhile, and that it can be a pain trying to clean algae off the front glass.

The only reason I picked up my upgrade was because I am building it FOR my move. I can take all year to get the larger setup EXACTLY how I want it, from the stand on up, and then move my 55 into when we do move rather than try and move a current tank. Seemed like that would be easier than tearing down and re-setting up, and it's an awesome excuse to go bigger when you get a bigger place!

oh yeah the algae is a bi**** in the corners especially and everything looks TINY when you see it from the side or take it out of the tank! It's sort of like have a magnifying glass in front of your eyes all the time. Sort of cool initially, but it gets old. Also hard to effectively light a large bowfront.

Keep your tank looks awesome even if I haven't seen it in forever.

Thanks Steve, and Rene...I've fallen in love with it again, and I finally have it where I want it now, as far as looks.
