Post your light setup.

So I'm part of an SPS collector group on Facebook as well as a few members I know of and someone started an interesting post about lighting and what people use.

The example people were using was the infamous Walt Disney and all type of lightning were producing soone great results all a little different in colors of course.

Mike Biggar chimed in with his setup I've attached it and wanted to see what everyone was using and the results.

The purpose of this thread is to show new and existing members different examples light setups with results.

So feel free to share your light setup with examples of your corals.

I'm going to share Mike Biggars setup to start off then post mine later today.

Please dont let this turn into a light or setup bashing thread.

IMO .. Lighting is the last last part of the equation :)

yes there are advantages and disadvantages with all lighting systems just lke anything else :) ...

First is the proper alk/calcium/magnesium balance and it being stable for a very long time.
second is the nutrient ratio - Nitrates to phosphates and as stable as possible for a long time.

colors automatically follow once your tank matures with #1 and #2 :)

there are T5 tanks that look shitty, halide tanks that look shitty and tanks with highest end leds looking shitty ... and vice versa..

when ever a coral changes from one light to another .. say from occean ( sun ) to a t5 lit tank to an led lit tank ..it takes time to adjust itself to the new lighting.

as long as the lighting system is strong enough ..its good to go ..

I agree with this, usually people want to talk about lighting first. So figured I'd start with a light sharing post so everyone can see you don't have to get the most expensive lights out there.

Also agree with all of the above
Running 4 blue + and 2 coral+ but going to 5 blue+ and 1 coral +

This is always a tricky/hard subject to talk about...haha. Maybe we can compare the same Coral and describe what lighting we are using to achieve that color. But then we might run into picture quality problems. But anyways, I just switched out my ATI blue+ (a yr old) to Giesemann actinic blue. Not sure the brand made a difference but WOW did some colors pop up. I also have a pair of AI prime HD. The AI primes took a while to find the sweet spot tho.
