RC Helicopter

Anyone here into flying Helicopters? Last week I bought the Blade MCX2 and kinda mastered it so yesterday I went and got the Blade SR. Any pointers?

I bought the lil cheap ($40.00) ones for my two sons for christmas, and still haven't got the hang of them yet... Plus the batteries seem to die quickly. Good luck with yours.

I used to fly them...but after several crashes I sold them...Do you have the training gear?...or should I say the ping pong balls on the carbon rods.

I have the one that you can control with your iphone... not really a professional RC one but tons of fun!

Hahaha I'm so glad I saw this. I was about to pull the trigger on newegg for one of the RC choppers, but I thought it would be kind of weird...

I guess not, so I might actually go buy one now.

Thanks..I will pick those up today.

Is it the AR Parrot Drone?

Yeah the batteries do die quickly but I believe I could get a better batteries for both of the Blade helis. Not too sure about the one you have. Check to see if the ones you bought have an upgradable battery.

There is also a RC Heli training guide online.....It is basically practice hover, once you can hover then straff left and right....Once those are mastered then go forward and back....The thing is everyone wants to take off and fly but it is really hard to hold a hover...one more thing always note that your heli will either pull left or right upon liffing off...be ready to compensate right away with very little movements, do not over correct otherwise you will flip it and well....That is why I sold mine....Good Luck!

Cool. I'm thinking of getting the RealFlight6 simulator so my son can practice too.

I'm waiting for Best Buy to get that back in stock. My fiance is an employee so I'm hoping to get it as a nice gift :)

They make great simulators for PC. I started with the blade CX and then the MCX. Then the CP. The coaxials help with nose-in and understanding some dynamics, but going to collective pitch is like balancing a short broom on one finger the whole time you are flying. At least when you mess up and crash your heli, not little animals will be harmed (much different from this hobby).

It's a Raptor X50,i have used it about 30minutes total.Hah,so i'm hardly an expert.I have a couple electric ones i practice on,but i'm afraid of taking this one out since it's a Nitro unit.

My brother just got fired from there xmas eve... claiming 10 minutes of time theft. It's bogus and he's contesting it. He was also a full time employee.

Don't bother with blade products. They're cheap and don't fly well at all. You end up upgrading everything to get a halfway decent heli. I flew for years, but gave it up cuz i had to go to school.

my setup was a Futaba 9CHPS with the spektrum module, Bantam charger

My fleet:
trex 450se
Compass usa atom 500
thunder tiger mini titan
Thunder tiger raptor 90se
thunder tiger raptor e620se on 10s lipos
Century swift 16 on A123 batteries.
Guru-z belt driven frame with a Fixed pitch esky honeybee head
Helidirect HDX500
esky king v2
mx400 (what a mistake of a heli)

i loved my thunder tiger products. Don't support eflite. The only halfway decent LHS around here is Al's hobby shop in elmhurst. Don't bother with the hobbytown usa's. nice for picking up little things like nitro and little screws and whatnot. Here's a video of me flying, i wasn't all that good and was just getting into 3D flight... but crash costs were getting to high and college was nearing, so sold everything altogether. I did purchase a mini titan v2 recently, but thats only a bare kit right now.

Here's a pic of some of my favorite helis...

And my all time favorite... TT Raptor E620se... it's the same as the R50 but electric :) I was so sad when it did a boom strike on an auto i landed a little hard on...

I have a AR Parrot Drone. My friends at work got it for me last year as a Christmas gift. It is a lot of fun, and not as hard to fly in my opinion as RC Helicopters. I've flown RC planes and helicopters too. The Drone also has a camera so that you can record your flight. Last year I flew it up to one of the windows on the house and captured video of my wife...cleaning dishes of course lol.
