Red Vine Stuff...

This stuff is gripping onto the rock for its life! Any tips on an easier removal other than just picking at it with tweezers? :moil:

Just go ape **** on it...both hands in and rip and tear it up :P thats how i do it...make sure u grab all the pieces tho!!!

Stupid question, is there a difference between Mexican Turbos and Astraea snails? I have 5 Astraea, but they dont touch the stuff.

Yes i don't know the difference but things that my Astraea don't touch my turbos go after like crazy. Make sure u only get 1 turbo tho. I think it's like 30 gallons of volume per turbo. They get big and never stop eating. Also if the get knocked on their back u have to fix them cause they can't do it themselves

Turbos get fairly large. And for snails r pretty speedy. Don't want to starve the things...

Sorry 1 turbo snail for every 20 gallons so u could get away w/ 2. I wouldn't do anymore for fear of starving them.

This stuff is impossible to get off. Clings tight to the rock and breaks off in little pieces. Turbo it is!

Any idea what this stuff is called?

If you want to get rid of it, a clean nylon bristle scrub brush in a bucket of DI or old salt water and scrub the stuff off then rinse the rock off well before putting back in the tank. Alternately, you could try brushing the roots with some hydrogen peroxide with a q-tip and let that soak in for a few minutes, could help kill it, works on hair algae.
