So last night while the last of the torrential rain was happening I found my (unfinished) basement flooded due sump pump not being on. A few weeks ago I had unplugged it due to a broken float switch and totally forgot about it. Luckily the switch was broken in the on position.
I spent about an hour last night plugging and unplugging it before I had an idea. MY REEFKEEPER!!! I ran an extension cord upstairs to where I had an open 8amp spot on my pc4 and set up timers to cycle it on for a minute and then off for 12. It was just enough to not burn my pump out overnight and will give me time to get to the store after work today to get a new float.
Hope everyone else stayed dry and safe during the storms. Thoughts go out to anyone effected by the tornadoes.
