Has plenty of water and theres no snail. And does the same thing in a bucket. Took the cover off and plugged it in and the impeller spins fine its just not pumping water. I noticed it always does this when it first gets plugged in but it starts pumpin after a minute. I came home from work the other morning and it was just spinning and no water movement. My wife said it was like that for 2 hours. Not sure whats happening

Magnet could be spinning but the actual plastic impeller could have come off the magnet (sometimes they have a little catch on them). When that happens it will look like it's spinning correctly when the cover is off but won't actually move water when the cover is on and pushing down on the shaft.

Hmmm so maybe push down on the impeller harder?

No, get a new impeller. When you take the impeller out can you spin the plastic part independently of the magnet? If so, you can try super glue to fix it temporarily, but will need a replacement.

If you need a backup pump in the meantimes I have one you can use. Your tank cannot go without water movement. How old is the pump? Is it under warrantee?

Not only did my pump go out but one of my 250w double ended hqi bulbs blew... I think. It wont come on even if I unplug the light and plug it back in. But the other tank is on... both ran on same timer

Nice work! I would definitely get an extra impeller though. Bound to happen again with just the superglue fix.
