RO/DI Water Pressure Woes

Got my new 5 stage system from BRS today, and it's all hooked up.
Saddle valve coming straight off the main line, however my pressure is only 20 psi. I would think it would be much higher being connected where the water comes in. Any thoughts?

But should I have that low of pressure coming straight off the water line?

Is there a knob you can increase flow? Some people just have low pressure even if it doesn't seem like it. You can check to see if your RO manufacturer sells a booster pump/kit... I have spectrapure and they have one.

I guess you can troubkeshoot the unit to see if there's any clogs/filter build up but if its new I wouldn't think that would be the case. Or double check the line with another psi gauge to make sure its the line and not the unit/gauge.

Question: How come you didn't use the valve right after the water meter? That is way more preferred than the saddle valve.

The thing is, when I 1st started using my system, it only took 2 hours to make the same amount of water. I'm wondering--do the tubes get clogged up with minerals?

It al depends on ur residence. Mine is at 40 and takes forever to drop. I was going tO buy the booster, but I'm still debating it. Takes 12-14 hrs to get 25 gallons. I just set it up 2 days ago

Although sediment could cause a drop in pressure it is more likely that you filters require changing. I know the systems from BRS has a min operating pressure of 40 psi. Any less than that and your RO membrane is producing more waste and not removing the the bad stuff for your tap water. BRS has some great videos with tons of info.

I would highly recommend adding a booster pump. I was hesitant since my pressure was on the low end, but technically enough. I ended up going with it and was really pleased with the results. It definitely increased the efficiency of my system, and supposedly helps increase the life of your membrane also.

What pressure are you running with the pump?

Looks like the gauge was messed up. Getting about 42 after straightening the face. I'd expect brs to replace it.

I'm tapped in w/ a saddle valve and get ~ 60-65 psi. Guess it depends on where you live. i also had an oversized main ran to my house when it was built.

I can adjust the pressure to my house. I have one of those pressurized tanks in my basement, during the summer I will increase it from 45psi to 60psi to accommodate my 26 zone sprinkler system.
