Sad day - Fish loss - Terelabrus

This morning I found my favorite fish on top of the tank :disgust::disgust::disgust:

He had never shown any jumping tendencies (like some of my others) but Terelabrus are wrasses and last night there were 4 jumping/screaming kids playing Wii in that room...and there was a 1/2" gap in the top :culpability: :doh: :banghead: :shout:

Sucks! Of all the creatures in my tank this is the one I liked the most (very personable and unique looking) AND is very likely the hardest to replace. :sorrow:

Not my video, but this link will give you a sense of how cool and interesting they are as a member of a reef tank. The video doesn't show him fanning his tail (which is very colorful), nor hinging his jaw open (which is crazy snake like), but it does show their "bird dog" like swim patterns.


I'll get over it, but its a blue day :blue:
 
Neat fish ...never stops moving ....sorry about ur loss....and it always seems to b the favorite one that passes away : (

Keep an eye out on Diver's Den. They often have these guys. In fact there is one coming up on tonight's drop if you are interested (5:00pm Central).

SkullV> Thanks for the heads up. I think the sneak peek is indicating Bodianus sepiacaudus...which is cool as well...but not a Terelabrus (which is docile - left everything alone, including ornamental shrimp).

Not sure what direction I'll go. Find something quick or wait it out for another "rare one".

Ah, you are probably right. They call it a "Yellowbar" Hogfish when it appears on Divers Den. Have you tried calling Old Town Aquarium? Rare Wrasses are one of their bigger interests.
