Sad Day For Mangroves

Well, the last of my systems was broken down tonight and the hardest part was the filter...my mangroves:


I had two mangroves that had grown nearly 4' tall and were my primary filter on my clown fish system. They started out as tiny sprouts and quickly grew to touch the ceiling in my basement. Fortunately for me, they wont be missed as I am donating them to the college where I work so that they can become a nice addition to school's new greenhouse.

 
Wow! Never seen mangroves get that big in this hobby. Maybe you can lets others know what kind of care they need to become like that. I personally don't have any, but I know others on here might benefit from a brief write up.
 
Good job getting them to grow that big.... I'm still struggling and trying to get mine to grow.

When trimming your mangroves any cool pointer you can think of? Justin sold me some of the same ones almost a year and a half ago, and I must say they are growers!
 
I will try and do a little write up on my experiences using them. On a side note, the transfer went well and they are currently adjusting to their new environment :)
