Hey everyone I was looking on finding a different salt to use and was looking to see what everyones recommendations are? I have a 75 reef and a 40 frag tank. I'm open to anybodies opinions. ready go thank you

Only reason I'm looking to switch is because the brand I have seems to have disappeared off the market. had enough to last 2 years no that supply is coming down to its end. company was called biomarin

If cost is a concern go with reef crystals. You'll get a brown slime/coating in your mixing barrel but it should stay there as long as you mix it enough. It's just the anti-caking and clarifying agent that instant ocean uses. It is the salt that Liveaquaria uses in their Divers Den facility.

My salt is difficult to find now unless you want to order a pallet too. My next order will be for hw-marinemix reefer blend salt. It's very pricey at $76/160g but I have been extremely happy using a 100% synthetic salt for the last 6 months or so and for a year before that in my 75g.

Yes I would agree, reef crystals is very economical and my coral and fish seem very happy with it. With full polyp extension and nice propagation . A lot of scientific facilities use it as well.

SkullV thanks a lot always wondered what that brown slime was. It does go away though.

I have used red sea coral pro for close to 3yrs and have had great success with it, mix's quick and crystal clear in about 30 min, no residue and in the price range of $70 160 gal mix.

Plain Red Sea (Not the Pro) Mixes quick and clear in about 30 mins. Also the Alk is right at 7.8-8 dkh on a fresh mix which was my reason for changing from Reef Crystals.
