Sand or No Sand...that is the question...

As I am setting up my 220g I have been hearing mixed reviews when it comes to having a sand bottom because after time it will hold all the bad stuff and eventually crash the tank...

I have heard of having a multi layered/multi substance deep sand bed in the tank...

I have heard of having bare bottomed tanks...

I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO!!!

I enjoy the look of the sandy bottom, it is what looks natural to me?? What would be proper?

Please let me know what you have, why you have it and what you recommend to your friends!

Thanks all!

Man I'm in the same boat, I'm setting up a new tank shortly once it's finished and don't know what to do, I have sand in my 90 and I hate it! But I hear mixed reviews so that's only reason I'm debating

Me 3 lol, I was thinking of taking out my sand so there is no sand at all in my 30 gallon, if it will save me in the trouble in the long run i might, not sure though, maybe just add a goby so it will keep the sand clean?

why do you hate the sand? does it cause problems in your tank?

I'm gonna be moving soon and I was thinking of eliminating the sand too. It's been in there for 5years already so I don't think that I want to reuse it. I wouldn't even know how to clean it.

Go what your heart tells you.. If you like the sand look, just go with 2" Max..

BB & DSB require the taste for it and want it. You want the look :D
