Scuba Diving Lessons?

Hey guys, this summer I am lucky enough to be spending 24 days in Fiji and the Solomon Islands doing a scuba diving program. I need to be certified first though. I know some of you must be certified out there so I was wondering if anybody out there knew of good places to take lessons. Thanks in advance!

There's a scuba diving school in highland park, right on 41, just north of MCF. I don't know how much though.

I got certified in Florida so I am no help......

but I sure wish I was able to go on that trip! ENJOY!

i did mine years ago at , the owner was a very good instructor.
I would not do it at some hotel or resort , you will not learn anything.

I got a like new BC and regulator I would sell......

I never get a chance to go anymore! :(
Someone take him up on this! Be sure to have both serviced at a shop though.

I'd recommend Scuba Systems, in Skokie but that's pretty far for you. They have their own pool. Be sure to do all your Open Water dives here & not on your trip. Waste of a good dive trip!

Skokie isn't too much further... I work in Highland park so it may be a possibility. Thanks for the recommendation on the open water dives. I would assume I would have to wait until it warms up and they take you out to Lake Michigan or something?

Do your certification dives on your trip. It's 2 days - 4 dives. Then you're good to go. We're doing all our class and pool work here, then in April, in Mexico, we're doing our check-outs. Do your pool and class with us! haha ;)

OW dives are done either in Pearl Lake or Haig Quarry. I used a 7ml suit.

It is so cold around here. The last time I dove the quarry it was 100 degrees outside and the water was frigid. In my opinion, it is alot easier to learn and familiarize yourself w/ equipment without crazy thick gloves on.

Yeah but we dive there every year, just to keep our skills up. We figure if we can dive there, we can dive anywhere! Also, we love camping by the lake. I feed the fish spaghetti.

that's the place with the bus and mini-submarine on the bottom, right? When I dove there about 5 years ago there was a crazy thermocline that kept us above thirty or 40 feet (I only have a shorty but it should have been ok inland in august!) we would keep trying tto stay in it, but it was like spooky cold.
