Simultaneous tank crashes

I went for a 5 day vacation to San Francisco and came back to two nano tank crashes. I have a 12 gallon and a 5 gallon. The corals were already looking kind of bad in my 12 gallons a few days before I left. I did a 20% water change on both tanks and hoped for the best. My wife was at home while I was away and she warned me things weren't looking good midway through my trip. Came back and all my SPS gone, all my rics melted, some zoas gone, torch melting, frogspawns melting, lobo gone, some acans melting. I quickly did a 50% water change in both tanks. Next day more stuff died, about $500 worth of stuff gone. Did another 50% water change. 3 days later, things are starting to bounce back. I really dont know what caused the two crashes. The 5 gallon was covered with green hair algae. I manually removed alot during water change. Maybe something died in the 5 gallon and fouled the water while I was away.

It will probably take me another 3 months to get it back to that state. SIGH.
 
Man that was looking good . Small tanks r so delicate specially if u not there to tend to them . Hope u get em back on track
