I bought this setup 2 years ago used off of craigslist. Finally i have been able to set it up. It has been running for 2.5 months now. Need to do some upgrades to some components in the near future but as the tank sits now here are the components:

40 gallon SeaClear Acrylic Display Tank with custom black overflow box
Black Pine Stand
modified wet/dry filter into temporary sump
Rio+1100 return pump
AquaC Urchin protein skimmer with MJ1200 and drain fitting
Current USA Nova Extreme 4x39w T5 light fixture with stock bulbs
Unknown Koralia Powerhead
Marineland Stealth Pro 150w heater

45lbs fiji live rock
40lbs indo-pacific black arag-alive by caribsea
1 black ocellaris clown
1 orange ocellaris clown
1 scarlett skunk cleaner shrimp
1 coral banded shrimp
3 red leg hermit crabs
3 astrea snails
1 margarita snail
1 nassarius snail

i use all black sand on my bio cube and it looks great imo

Mine is caribsea's indo pacific black its a mixture of fine white sand and larger black inert volcanic chunks it seemsto me the bigger chunks came to the top instead of mixing in. my wife has the same sand as me but hers mixed a little better imo.
 
Ok so last night I got my first corals ever. Pufferman hooked me up with a great deal. I got two zoa frags. First one is 7 polyps of Greenbay Packers.The second frag is 18 polyps of Radioactive Dragon Eyes. Big thank you to pufferman and everyone else that has helpedme reach this point.

So today went to the LFS and got two new additions to my tank. 1 Lawnmower Blenny and 1 Tiger Sand Conch. Pictures to come tomorrow when the lights are back on.
