Taking pictures with iPhone

Hello!

Before everyone starts blasting me with the "you get what you paid for" replies about having a $1000+ DSLR camera vs. a iPhone camera, I just wanted to say that I simply cannot afford a expensive camera.

With that said, I've seen some amazing pictures of fish/corals taken with simply an iPhone, and I want to ask those people how it's done. I believe that you have to get a magnifying lens to fit over your camera lens, but what about the lighting? I have LED, so everything is shown in blue. What kind of app do you recommend to adjust the settings. Any tips for taking better pictures?

Thanks in advance!

Ive been practicing taking shots of the tank with my iphone as well. I read an article about af lock or something like that. You click where you want to focus and then continue to hold until the square box flashes and the focus is locked at that point.

I've heard good and bad about the olloclip for the iphone. The frag will have to be pretty close to the glass to get a decent picture still.

here is a picture of a frag about 4in from the glass under full spectrum LED's

I'm proud of it for an iphone picture.

That's a pretty good picture. So did you turn your blue all the way down and then turn your whites all the way up?

Mine still turn up pretty blue that way...

A camera can't pick up the spectrum leds give off so whatever camera you use, you will need to white balance adjust it to give you a more accurate picture. You can white balance adjust either on the camera (not cell phone camera) or by using a program on the computer.

You would get a slightly better pic with iPhone if you turned down your blues but it will come out much better with the adjusted white balance. The blues and violets is what makes it hard to take pics with the leds.

That's actually with the lights on normal, 60%ish for blues and 50%ish for the whites/reds/greens.

I did use the color enhance feature on photo bucket.

Top picture is without editing
Bottom is the color enhance on photobucket
