Tank on carpet

Hey all,
I soon will move to a condo where the living space is carpeted (unfortunately no option to move it). What can I do to ensure my 125g tank remains level over time?

I had a 90g on carpet, on cement, in the basement, and it stayed level for the 4 years I had it running. I don’t recommend putting a tank on carpet, but sounds like you may not have a choice.

Don't set it on the tack strip along the outside outside edge of room.. otherwise it's fine

Agreed. Give yourself plenty of space from the wall as IMO you will want/need a minimum of at least 4” clearance in the back. Also buy a few large reef towels that you can set down while performing your routine maintenance.

I had a 75 on carpet and used these under the stand.

Another one for just level and shim as needed. As stated above, I get all older towels from my CFO, and use them during water changes.

Shim the tank when empty. Fill it half way and check if it’s level. Make adjustments before filling all the way back up. Shim right to left before shimming front to back. Once that’s good you shouldn’t have any worries, besides soaking the carpet :coffee1:

Thank you all for your input I feel better about the move now. Since I have to break the tank down I'm wondering if the expense would be worthwhile to try to upgrade to a 150 gallon?
Not totally convinced that that small of an upgrade will be worth the benefit, and I can't afford much larger.
