Thinking of adding a clam

What is the general consensus on age of a tank to add a clam? I'm running a 46 gallon zero edge with 2 ai vega color led about 12 inches above the tank. LED's are at 40% power. Tank has been running 4 months, but was heavily seeded from my old tank that was 6 years old.

I agree with this, although, It doesn't sound like your new to the hobby, so I would say, about the time you see some coralline algae growth. Good luck.

Thanks, torch and trumpets are happy and growing, as are acros. Coraline is just starting.

You should be fine then. Just make sure not to expose clam to air during transfer.

Well I hope all goes well with a clam. Where do you intend to make your purchase? It seems to me, that the average size of available clams, is half of what it was, a year or two ago. Does anybody else feel this way?

Keep an eye on the calcium, clams tend to suck it up!

Any thoughts on what type of lighting is necessary for keeping clams? Are LED's sufficient?
