Tips for mounting hardware

Let's see your tips and tricks on mounting things in on and under your tank. This one blew my mind because I've spent lots of time trying to get this sort of thing right by the wiggle in the stop on a tape measure is enough to completely screw it up.
As a hardcore tinkerer;I've got a million of these but the other one I'll put up for now is: magnets.

I'd love to see other creative solutions (that really work)

for brs media reactors and the like use 1/4-20 hanger bolts and nuts, makes it easy to remove them to service.

I started a thread for tips and tricks you should look at the its fulla stuff

Yeah I definitely like that one too (I think I posted on it), but I want this one focused specifically on hardware management. Mounting, Bracketing and handling all of the power and gadgets we have to pack in to our aquaspaces. (I'm basically just trying to steal ideas for my next build). A general tip thread is a great read, but hard to do research for a specific task.

That's cheating...real men don't read instructions, use blueprints, or do this!!!

What a great idea though, I would have never thought of it. I use zip-ties by the hundreds. I use them to keep wires together and neat, to elevate my return pumps of the bottom of the sump, to tweak my pvc pipes to stop vibrations

I just noticed he's actually drilling in the wrong spot. You would want the screws in the narrow part of the keyhole if you were trying to be exact.

Nope, as long as you drill them all in the hole as opposed to the slot, you will be fine. You just slide it over.

Nope, that's the right spot. Then you set the power strip over the screws and shove it one way or the other...

shoving it over would place it in a different location than you had mounted the paper. if you were being exact to final placement you would drill the holes in the narrow spot and have that be the final resting place (after shoving). It's 3/16" at most, but it would matter if you were trying to line it up exactly.

With my 75g build I'm planning on buying a 2'x2' piece of 1/2"-1" plywood. I will then either drill large holes or use a dremel to cut out sections that I can route my cabling behind. I'll then mount my RKL, power strips, and anything else to it, so they are off the ground, away from the water, and easily accessible. This way if I ever upgrade tanks, I can just move the board over to the new tank and not have to worry about anything.

Hopefully it comes out looking as good as it is in my head haha.

I copied the idea from others, but using a dj powerstrip works really well. No more plugging and unplugging when you do things down in the sump. Just a flip of a switch or two. Best $22 I spent on my whole setup.
