Trip to the Shedd Aquarium (Wild Reed Included!)

JVC

New member
Well, this past summer I bought a individual membership for one year to the Sheed for $80 (admission for me and me girlfriend was $56 sooo it was a no brainer).

I've been a few times since but just went again yesterday with my camera and made sure to snap off a bunch of pictures from the wild reef exhibit! So I figured I'd share some of these pictures with you guys.

Hope you guys like it, if you get the opportunity to go to the shedd and see the Wild Reef exhibit I would HIGHLY recommend it. Sure, theres a lot of coral inserts, some stuff if browned out, and some stuff just isn't THAT cool, but overall I'd say it's pretty impressive and totally worth it!

Nice pics and thanks for sharing.
I'm pretty sure I see aptasia in the 12th pic. I guess the Shedd isn't immune to those pests either, LOL!

Here's the pics that I got from our visit yesterday. This batch of pics was my first opportunity to play around with the camera on my new iPhone 4S and the camera totally blew my mind! Just the quality jump from the already amazing 4 camera to the crazy stupid good 4S camera was enough to boggle my brain.
Anyways, here's my pics!

There is no doubt in my mind that my little cell phone takes better pictures than the several thousand dollars of camera gear that I used to own would.
Enjoy the pics!

They have a pair of McColluchs? How did I miss those?

Their Solarensis was the reason I bought mine. :D

I was hoping you'd post your pictures Brad. That camera is definitely good but once some of those photos are blown up a bit bigger they don't look QUITE as good as they did on the phone. You should upload that video you took and post that too!

FishBeard , we can get you one of those if you would like. We are ordering for next week and I think I saw those on the list.

Thanks but I have to pass, just brought home an awesome gold rimmed tang yesterday, in QT now. Eating and happy, just gonna wait a few weeks to watch for any diseases/parasite/infection before moving it to my reef.

Did you guys sea their FantaSea show? I was warned by a guy who worked on it not to go, but I went. Hilarious. I have to get there soon. I haven't been there since I got into the hobby. I was going to try to volunteer there at some point. Anyone ever done that?

They changed the dolphins. Show up a bit and its no longer called fantasea. They're working toward their holiday themed show and it wasn't half as painful as fantasea. LOL

This past spring, the only disappointment I had with the shedd was the pathetic dolphin show. Should have been called "Save the Environment" with a couple dolphin tricks tacked on like an afterthought. Fortunately we got free corporate day passes and all got in for free, all access except behind the scenes.
