TV Remote in my reef tank!!!!!

Wife just calls me at work, the 20 month old threw the dvd remote into the tank. She thinks less than 10 minutes tops. States everything looks fine, corals, fish, invertebrate.

Anyone ever experience something similar? Think the habitat is OK? I can't get home for a few hours yet to do any WC's. I'm in a slight panic worrying about battery or copper or anything?

PLEASE......ADVICE???
 
DC current should really hurt anything, but corrosion or acid leakage would be very bad. Can she make a loop out of fishing line and retreive it?
 
In ten minutes very little oxidation will happen, certainly nothing to worry about. I'd get a new remote though and a lid ;)
 
Nothing to worry about... Try having your daughter at 2 years old tell you they are trying to help you clean the tank with a (Mop) while you are at work... Now thats something to worry about... Luckily I had Carbon running at the time and lost one of my Anthais but everything else was all good...
 
Oh, is it already back out? Then you are fine. If that happened with my wife should would tell me, but probably not help get it out :)

The story is actually funny. My wife tells my boys (3 and 1.5yrs) don't mess with the fish tank now, we don't wanna hurt nemos, the 3 yr old replies, "well you might wanna get that remote outta there then." How can I be mad when they're that cute!


I have a glass top, but removed it Monday to fit my new mesh top I made and haven't completed. Maybe glass tops back until I find the time.

That is funny! Glad to see I am not the only one trying to stop my little boy from putting everything but the kitchen sink in the tank.
