Upflow algae scrubber?

As some of you noticed, i am a little bored at work today.
As a part of trying to reduce phosphates and nitrates I am viewing my options. Does anybody have experience with algae scubbers?
I don't have much room for a waterfall type scrubber, but i just came across the upflow algae scrubber idea today. I might be able to make room in my sump for this? any thoughts?

I tried one an have had no success with it. I am going to try one other thing but I have not been able to get algae to grow on it.

I dont know about the upflow scrubbers, but i am using a dump style scrubber and its defintaly the best thing ive done for my tank. Id say any kind of scrubber is going to be benificial for your tank if its set up right for your system. Alot of peoples tried them and not liked them though.

I've had it going for 5 months with no water changes and it's all at 0 or around 0 every time I've checked it. I've got a steady growth rate of algae every week on my screens. It did take a few months to get it broke in and everthing going good. I'm not running anything besides the scrubber for filtration.

I want to try one but don't have much room for that style scrubber. I am still contemplating which method to use. I could do a up flow but don't want to be scrubbing coraline off the sump all time. Can you post a picture if you get a chance of your set up?
