Vitamin C, Vodka, Gfo which way to go???

i needed to post new thread cause on my other thread im not getting clear answers?? so my quatione is which of the fallowing is safer more efficent to help water be more pure??? it seems to me that the vodka dosing have more ++ then --, more color in corals, no worries about overfeeding .

should i
its batter then gfo using gfo can reales phosphates back and vodka is breaking them so the skimmer will remove them

My advise is not to use any of those, maybe gfo,but each has a very intricate way of administering it otherwise the results will be more negative than positive.i'll send you a PM.

the best way to control algae growth is a clean source of water and a fuge with macro algae. with a tank 3-4 months old you could easily just be going through some mini cycles.

Weren't you trying to use biopellets before? why don't you just stick with that? You use biopellets the same as any other carbon dosing, you have to start with a much lower amoun than recomended and slowly add more every few weeks. Like everyone else said, your tank is very young and will get algae outbreaks, just need to not overfeed and use good quality RODI water.

Anyways, my vote goes to Vinegar dosing, I use vinegar together with GFO, as carbon dosing alone doesn't get rid of all the phophates.

We talked on the phone last night,i told him his tank is barely starting and he doesn't need to add a carbon source atm,he needs to start with 0 TDS water and reg water changes,he's also going to switch salt,so all this will only create greater algea outbreaks.Till then best thing to do is weekly water changes and keep that magnesium very high.once the tank establishes(another 6months) then your options for adding a carbon source open up if need be.

Dont know how true this is... But if you start using VC, vodka or vinegar and stop after a good time usage your tank might have a hard time trying to adjust and might crash..

So GFO seems to be good in my book. Your tank in time will fight this with help of a good CUC : )

Good advice!

Sounds like good advice. Stopping carbom dosing does not cause a crash--it just makes the corals & system go back to the way it was before dosing. When I stopped dosing VC for a short while, my leathers looked smaller & so did my LPS. Color wasn't as good either.
