I asked in chat but I thought I would ask the forum

here is my situation I am planning on getting a 24x 24x 24 cube....that will weigh over 1000 lbs so I have only 2 places I can put it

a little back ground I live in a 3rd story apartment ... with my landlord under me

ok place 1) on a counter top (that I will reinforce) just off a regular wall not a load wall... or ext...wall
my fear is the weight fron the tank can ruin the floor joyce or even crash through the floor

or placement 2 next to a window...but on an exterior wall ... with the curtains drawn ( even though there will be some bleed through)
my fear is sunlight will cause too much alge and ruin the coral ect and be too much a problem ... heat is not so much an issue as I will have a chiller

what will I need toi test for alge and how long will it take to happen

time is aensitive on this issue (sale runs out on Thursday so I need to make a decision)
thanks guys

I have a tank in the corner with windows above both sides--no curtains. No algae of any kind, NOW but when I 1st set it up, the algae was crazy bad.

It'll be ok to place the tank next to a load bearing wall. I once had a 125 gal tank in an older apt with no issues.

1000lbs is almost no weights. Figure 5 people or 6 depending on size standing in 1 spot won't do anything. It just seems like a lot of weight but your floor will hold it.

Dude dave we answer this question ever day for u. The tank be fine the floor will hold. When u get to the big tanks 180 plus then u have to worry about it . Now get er done

thanks guys for the replies.....skumkmere that's a 9000 lb tank... ??? what size is it?

I know I ask the weight question a lot... and I was not trying to pester the forum .. the point of this post is given the choice of sunlight getting into the tank or weight which would you choose?

The weight of your tank wont be a problem, the natural sunlight shouldn't be either, get some mini-blinds and choose whatever makes you happy! :)
