With close to 100 Coral Compulsion brand PAR bulbs sold worldwide, we are always trying to stay at the front of the technology curve. We also listen very closely to the reviews, suggestions, and comments from all of our customers. And one of the most common requests has been to add dimmable functionality to our bulbs.
After testing various drivers (we would never sell a product that we cannot stand behing 100%), we finally are able to provide a solution that we are very happy with.
I am happy to announce that all Coral Compulsion Full Spectrum PAR38 bulbs are now dimmable! Best of all, it is at no cost to you! They will still only cost $109.99 for either the 20k full spectrum or 14k full spectrum bulbs.
The dimming functionality can be controlled by any household dimmer that is capable of dimming LED bulbs (keep in mind, not all dimmers can do this unless they specify they work with LEDs). And because we strive to provide you with the most complete solution possible, we will also be offering high quality Lutron brand dimmer controller modules that will work with any plug in fixture, including our ever so popular Lamp Clamp fixture. These dimmer controls will be available later this week, and will only cost $14.99. (discounts will be available if you purchase a whole lighting package. Bulb, fixture, and dimmer will save all you Chicago Reefers $15 and come out to about $150.)
I would also like to share some PAR values that were recently taken to give you an idea of how well these bulbs perform. These readings were taken with 1 par38 20k full spectrum bulb with 90 degree optics, on one of our lamp clamp fixtures, over a 12x12x12 cube tank. The bulb was about 18" from the sandbed. Readings were taken using an apogee MQ-200 meter, at multiple locations. The results were as follows:
Center Waterline: 988
Center Middle: 352
Center Sandbed: 279
Front Right SB: 32
Front Left SB: 30
Back Right SB: 99
Back Left SB: 98
