What Brokerage Firm do you use and why?

Hey Will. When I left Motorola a 6 years ago I moved my pathetic 401k plan to E-Trade. I rolled it over into a qualified IRA. I guess it is not for everyone....but it works for me. I also have my Mot portable pension rollover there and other non-retirement funds over there.

I also have a MorganStanley SmithBarney account that has all of my employee stock purchase, RSUs and grants both from Mot and Cisco where I am today. They are not bad. I have not compared costs and fees and I do not use any of their "expert" services.

The factor most important to me is ease of use and the ability to do the stuff I need to do without having to go through hoops and some "advisor". If I need help or advice I know I can get it through them or someone else.

Hope this helps.

I use vanguard. It's an inexpensive option. They have good mutual fund products. The people who work there are easy and quick to get a hold of and always have the answers to your questions. I used to be with Wells Fargo and I am glad I moved.

I keep both a taxable account, and IRAs, as well as my son's custodial trust with TradeKing. They just merged with Zecco, but so far service is great, trade fees are $4.95\trade, and I can buy not just funds but individual stocks for my portfolio. Love it!

Amerprise Financial. Our advisor is the same one my wife's parent use. He's done really well for them and we're hoping for the same. lol

That's where my company 401k is, and I'm pretty happy with it.
