What Cable/Internet Provider do you use?

My wife and I are in the process of setting up a house in Hawthorn Woods. We currently have Dish Network for TV and AT&T DSL internet and local phone service (Dish requires a land line or we wouldn't have one). We've been pretty happy with the service, but I think I would like to get a little faster than the DSL I have had for 10 years. We're paying about $110 all in each month for all three services and don't really need any sort of movie packages or anything fancy. Who are you using for these services, are you happy, and how much does it cost? Thanks guys and gals!

We have AT&T U-Verse and we love it. The Internet is faster than Comcast. We can watch the DVR in any room. Of course, you can pause live tv and the DVR and resume watching in any room. There are tons if really cool features we don't even use that might appeal to you as well (such as creating a screen that shows several sporting events simultaneously). The TV guide actually shows you what's on that channel live before you decide to switch channels, good for commercial dodging. The price: 4 tv's with HD, HBO movie channel package, phone, Internet (modem with wifi provided) $200.

I have U-Verse. Being a network guy, their router/gateway SUCKS!!! I'm rebooting every connected ethernet device, including the set-top boxes once a week or so to clear storms on the network. It'll manifest with pixilated pictures on some of the TVs. Not bashing their service, just a heads up on their crap gateway. Excluding the gateway I’m happy with their service.

I have comcast. The internet is really quick. I think download speeds are around 25 megs and up is around 5 meg. I have one HD receiver box, my own modem and router, and just a basic plug in the back of the tv connection on 3 additional tv's and I pay around $75 with a promotion. Normally its around $110. As for the internet, just make sure you buy your own modem and wifi router. Theirs suck and they charge you $7 per month for garbage. I had their modem and constantly had to unplug it at least once a day so I just went and bought a motorola modem.

I have comcast and pay $34 a month for 26 mb internet only. I have hulu+ and netflix so I watch all my stuff through my xbox, lol. And I get free HD over the air.

Wide Open West. 15 years and zero complaints. Not available everywhere unfortunately. You can go to wowway.com to check availability. $130 digital cable; 16 meg download/ 2 meg upload. We have HBO, Starz, Encore. If you have a problem, you can get a live operator in less than two minutes.

I've wanted to switch to WoW for the past 7 years they have been advertising in my neighborhood (actual door hanger flyers) and for 7 years they have continued to tell me they are still not set up in my neighborhood. I don't understand that one at all...

There is no Uverse faster than Comcast. The best bang for the buck is Comcast if you bundle it all together and use all the features. Wait till their X1 boxes and cloud based dvrs later this year.

U-verse $153 u-200, Internet (basic) , 2 hd boxes 1 reg
Switching to Comcast in the spring when they can put the wire underground ( my dogs will destroy it) I cut it w a shovel digging a fire pit.

After fighting w a messed up bill monthly for the past 4 months and the tv losing sound every hour for 30 seconds I've pretty much had it!

Uverse right now. Bill is around $180. U300, not sure what internet, hd dvr, hd receiver, standard receiver.

Will be getting Comcast in a few months since i will be moving to an area that only has that.

I HATE satellite...

Comcast Internet/TV per month = average $100 after tax / MagicJack phone = $20 a year

Internet = rented modem, according to comcast 20megs but test shows average 25
TV = HD-DVR + all basic + digital + Encore + ondemand
Magicjack phone = internet required unlimited domestic

FYI...Comcast is planning to go Cloud DVR....not sure if this will be good or bad...

AT&T created their new Uverse division which is different from the old and awful AT&T DSL. It is now cable similar to comcast.

I currently use Comcast, can't beat their $30 promotion for 20/10mbps down/up speeds.

There is still a big difference in technology, ATT still uses twisted pair which has a much lower data limit than coax. Comcast has a big advantage until fiber to the home is installed. If comcast would have been on the ball in yesteryear there would be no comparison in speeds. Time will tell how much comcast will invest in network upgrades to speed it up further.
