What do you think about BRS 2 part?

I'm debating getting this to manually dose my 20g Tall tank. I'm starting to get some decent corals that may deplete the CA, MG and Alk. I bought the kit before but sold it before I used it. In the past I only used dry material to dose and that worked good. Anyway just looking for advice on this.

Thanks!

Nothing to wory about using this product. Just make sure you start slowly so you don't dose too much Alk at once. (It's pretty hard to overdose Ca or Mg)

You could potentially save a few bucks if you make your own 2 part, but since it's really not that expensive to begin with I prefer to buy it and don't make my own anymore.

Cheaper than $39 for the kit? Ca, Mg and alk? Plus the jugs, pumps and measuring cups?

I use Calcium Chloride and Sodium Bicarbonate (soon to switch to Sodium Carbonate). Cheap, easy, and it keeps my corals growing! :D

BRS 2 part is the best bang for buck IMO. Easy, simple instructions, good company, and solid product.

And, it will help us get free shipping ;)

But in all seriousness, awesome product.

I make a gallon of alk for about $0.75. Gallon jug is free, no pump used, Measuring cup about $5 (1 time purchase). The Pedlow, I just toss into the sump, same with Epsom salt I use for Mg. That's about $1/lb.

Puffer is a ninja
I use brs too it is easy and comes in all in one kit and has a calculator on the web site. it took me over a year to go through my first bulk kit with them dosing a 125g reef around 100ml a day of cal alk

Yeah, you buy a big box of baking soda, then bake it in your over for 30 minutes = Soda Ash. Next you go out and buy a big bag of de-icing pellets (like for your driveway or sidewalk) that contains pure calcium chloride. You can get Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate) from Walgreens and mix it with Magnesium Chloride Hexahydrate (Also known as "Mag Flake") from dead Sea Works. This way is cheaper.

Or....you can save yourself the hassle and drop the $39 at BRS ;)

Aghh I used BRS 2 part but I can't say I was really impressed with the quality and results. BRS is cheap and very easy to use plus you get all the equipment. I have also used ESV and had way better results with that product. ESV is pricey. Now I just uses my calcium reactor.

I think that Ca and Alk are all the same. The difference is if the 2-part includes other trace & vitamens, etc., like an ESV or Seachem. You'll pay more for one that has extra stuff in it. Personally, I find it much cheaper to make my own then dose trace separately.

To each their own. I've been using my $10 bag of Pedlow for the past 6 years. The Baking Soda lasts me over a year. With 8 tanks, I've gotta cut corners somewhere...

Well I pulled the trigger on the 2 part. I think ill start researching reef chemistry more and play with making my own additives when I get more time. As for now this was easy and hassle free!
