what is the best salt for a reef??

hey guys.i got with my tank bucket of Tropic Marin from previous owner,i dont know how old is,bucket was open before and salt is zipped in bag.should i used it or better is to buy new one?. let me know which salt is good.thanks

i used salt that was just sealed in bucket that was really old to the point of i had to break it apart i had no ill effects

It should be fine. I've used clumped up salt a couple times.

just opened box and there is bottle with ultrapurewater for calibration,anyway they saying that unit is fully calibrated.no immediate calibration is need.

I calibrate my refractometer everytime I use it. My refractometer seems to be decalibrated everytime I use it, usually once a week. You shouldn't take a chance on using a decalibrated refractometer, especially when it just takes a minute to calibrate it. Mix your salt and let it sit for 24-48 hrs in a big tub/garbage can before you check the salinity. Make sure you have a powerhead to mix your water in the tub.
