Where to buy Nori

I know you can buy nori from asian stores. when I went to check it out, I asked for dried nori, but they only have roasted nori. Are those the same things?

You can buy from petco, or aquatica, aquatica has a bunch of different kind of nori.

Same thing- I get mine from the local grocery store like Jewels- Athinic section should have it- or by the Sushi bar- I believe it's like a $1.49 for a bunch...

No. They are not. You can find dried nori at hmart or assi mart. Dried nori is reddish brown.

Agreed the red/brown is better,the roasted nori often times has oils in it.Better safe than sorry.

You are paying 4-5 times the price when you buy name brand nori. If you buy from grocery/asian stores they are much cheaper.

I got mine from Whole Foods. It was like $6 or $7 for a big bag of it that will last me a long time.

100 sheets is like $5 at AssiMart. Better quality than what you will find at lfs. Also they sell dried ulva.

I just bought a huge bag of dried nori from ASSI cheap, and a big bag of mussels for just $3. Pretty good deal and my fishes will be full and happy

They also have live clams cheap. You can also have them prepare a flounder in sashimi style. My RBTA absolutely loves the flounder. I do too. It's delicious.

+1 for H-mart, It's kinda a drive for me, but I think I save quite a bit there when I buy 10-15 bags at a time compared to a lfs. Did I mention my fish eat 5-6 sheets a day? Yes thier slobs but very healthy.

Same thing. Just make sure it is pure seaweed and unsalted.

Dried nori is raw. Roasted nori is cooked to bring out more flavor. There are some nutrients lost in the roasting process and roasted nori tends to be of lower quality. Dried nori is better.
