Why shouldn't I use a canister filter on a reef tank ??

So is there a reason why we shouldn't use canister filters on a reef tank ??

I read so much of contradicting info regarding nitrate buildup but no place ever explained why so .......

Imo, if you keep up with the maintence then your g2g. Some ppl add them and don't rinse em out for weeks or months. Then issues arise.

maintainance like in cleaning it once very two weeks is good enough ?

if im planning it on a 10 gallon nano ?

I clean clean my mechanical filter every week. Sometimes twice. Bio shouldn't be messed too much. Make sure no detritus is trapped. That's pretty much it.

The magnum 350 is as easy to clean as a bucket. I'm about to experiment with using one as a reactor/return.
