Well it has been a long year. Last year I chose to give up on my plan for my double 40b setup. The original idea was to setup 2 40b next to each other in a single 6' setup. Both tanks were plumbed together to a single sump with the intent to run 1 as a mixed reef, and the other as a seahorse tank. After signing for a new house to be built I decided not to continue with the build. I shut down one tank, then within a couple months I downsized to a 16g nano tank in preparation to moving.
Fast forward a few months to early this year. I fell off a ladder at work which forced me to be in the hospital for a while. After returning home I had to sleep on the main floor for a couple weeks and mainly had family taking care of the tank. Just happened to decide to go downstairs one day to find the front glass panel cracked from top to bottom and the entire tank empty. Luckily there was a small bowl in front of the tank which caught some water in it and this bowl was my only chance to save anything. my clown pair managed to find the only small puddle of water in a sand divet and I found them flopping on each other trying to stay in the 1/2" of water.
Thanks to Victor! He came over right away with no hesitation and took my clowns along with my dottyback and shrimp which I found under a rock and the few corals we could save. He has housed them all summer for me with the intentions of building a new setup once I move into the new house.
Finally months later we are preparing to close on the new house in a couple weeks and I am planning my new setup. I decided to continue the plan for the double tank setup only on a larger scale. I will be doing two rimless 93g cubes. 30x30x30 next to each other, again plumbed to a single sump, then running one as a mixed reef and one for seahorses mainly with macros and leathers. It will probably still be another 2 months before it starts to take shape but it's happening. Finally getting back into it and technically will be the most water volume I've done by 1 gallon lol. As long as you don't count the 3600g koi pond.
