Wow, that's a huge fish!

Big and ugly! I didn't think goldfish lived for more then 15 days. That used to be my experience when I used to win them as a kid.

not very uncommon at all, back when i first started i grew out 3 goldfish to similar sizes. I ended up giving them away and from there on i have no clue what was done with them. I guess what is strange is finding them in a lake up here but they are part of the carp family so why not?

They've found larger in the great lakes but it might have been koi. I've seen the stories on the news and it's pretty common. Folks throw their unwanted goldfish into the lake all the time. It's a bad thing to do.

aren't goldfish and koi just common carp? Or are they three different sub-species?

That's a koi must be pretty old too. They are everywhere where I am from but don't get that fat. I caught one about the same size length when I was a kid. We eat them too. It's too freshwater fishy for me though.

You gotta watch the video....the one in the pic is a golden carp that does weigh 30 lbs...the story is about a 15 in goldfish though...lol
