You know your aquarium too well when...

So I don't have a clue how I was able to tell this. I'm sitting in the kitchen talking to my brother. Tv is on in the other room, aquariums are in the front room. I can always hear a little of my 150g overflow, my 55 I can hear my fluval canister return and the HOB filters that splash back into the tank. On top of that my sisterinlaw had the washer going. Yet I was still able to tell that a hose was loose. I stopped for a second and listened enough that I realized it wasn't the washer, go look under the 150g to find the return hose clamp snapped in half and the hose was pushed most of the way off the pump. Luckily the water was spraying in the sump and not all over my floor. Got it fixed now but amazed that out of all the noise and water I was hearing, I could still hear a specific spraying sound that wasn't right.

No biggie, fixed it all up but I think I'll make a PVC run tomorrow and hard pipe it. Shouldn't have short cutted with the hose in the first place. But I can't stop a clamp failure.

It's amazing isn't it... On my old cube, I would have snails creep on my bubble traps, and we'd hear this funny splashing sound... When I finally realized I knew what it is, no big deal but certainly living around the sound of a reef for long enough... you become part of the reef!

Good job catching it before it got out of hand.

Good catch...I can look at my corals and tell if one of the parameters are off or the temp is different.

Its actually very true u can tell lot from corals and different corals tell u different parameters u really have to know your corals though . Almost dont need test kits if u do though lol

I have never noticed anything like this yet. Only coral that has acted differently is my carpet. But it's been on the move ever since it ate a razor blade. Currently after months in the sand, he chose to move to the highest point in my tank.

I'm the same way. I can totally hear if anything is off. I think deep down we are all extremely paranoid that there is a constant disaster waiting to happen.
